Many people are unclear about truffles and Dutch regulations. Are truffles legal? Are magic mushrooms legal?

In the Netherlands we have the Opium Act, in which all drugs are described in two categories. List 1 includes all hard drugs, and List 2 includes soft drugs. Truffles do not fall under the Opium Act in the Netherlands and are therefore legal.

In 2011, the health minister made a statement on this.

Truffles and the opium law

The Minister of Health received the following question, "Is it true that psychedelic truffles are not on any of the lists of the Opium Law? If so, was this known when magic mushrooms were listed under the Opium Act?" His answer was as follows: "Psychedelic truffles, also known as sclerotia, are indeed not covered by the Opium Act. This was known at the time the 186 species of hallucinogenic mushrooms were added to list II of the Opium Act on December 1, 2008.
